Rubentz Adolphe, better known by his pseudonym Mr. Rubentz, was born on July 15, 2003, in Gonaïves, Haiti. Currently residing in Limonade in the northern department of Haiti, Rubentz is a multi-talented individual with a deep passion for beauty and the arts, including music, painting, and fashion.
His love for these creative fields is what drives his inspiration and fuels his work across various domains.
How Being Haitian Shapes His Worldview
As a proud Haitian, Rubentz believes that Haiti’s journey resembles trying to catch up with a rapidly advancing world. Despite the challenges, his heritage gives him a unique perspective and a strong connection to his country’s rich history and culture.
He sees this struggle as an opportunity for Haitians to rise and contribute to global progress in their own way.
Education and career paths
Currently, Rubentz is a medical student at the Henry Christophe School of Medicine in Limonade. Alongside his studies, he is a graphic designer and portrait artist, blending his passion for health with his artistic skills. He dreams of making a significant impact in the field of health in the future while also pursuing his love for fashion and cinema.
Although his career in the fashion industry is still evolving, Rubentz has already achieved notable success. In 2023, Rubentz received three nominations for Male Model of the Year for Gonaives and placed 50th among the top 100 participants in the OpenHaiti challenge.
In the next 12 months, Rubentz aims to further establish himself in the fashion world, hoping to represent Haiti on an international scale by participating in prestigious fashion events like the Met Gala.
Giving back to the Haitian community
Rubentz dedicates himself to positively impacting his community. He is part of the KSPS (Kombit San Pou San) cohort of 2024 and is an active blood donor, contributing to saving lives. One of his future aspirations is to establish learning centers that provide intellectual and cultural opportunities for Haiti’s youth.
He also envisions using his skills in advertising and marketing to promote Haitian businesses and brands, offering his talents in graphic design and modeling to boost local enterprises.
Passion for Haitian Culture
Rubentz draws his inspiration from the vibrant culture of Jacmel’s beaches and Cap-Haitien’s stunning architecture. He takes pride in the humor and kindness that unite Haitians as a people and appreciates the impact of internationally renowned Haitian musicians such as Michael Brun and Wyclef Jean.
If given a platform, he would use it to promote Haitian fashion and advocate for a revival of the classic styles that once defined the country’s aesthetic.
Hobbies and personal interests
For fun, Rubentz enjoys playing basketball and football, and he has a deep appreciation for music, particularly compas, rap, and classical tunes. He also engages in theater and enjoys reading.
