Dr. Sabrine Semoin is the first board-certified Haitian female surgeon in South Florida, a successful businesswoman, and a beloved Haitian personality. Her humble beginnings and the hardships she’s endured speak volumes about her determination, strength of character, and incredible work ethic. She relocated to South Florida in 2019 and opened a practice in North Miami Beach, where today she specializes in general surgery and offers interventions including Advanced Robotic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, and Minimally Invasive Surgery. She works with high-end equipment and tools, including the da Vinci Robotic system, to provide patients with secure, effective, and painless surgeries. Her goal is to increase access to surgeries using the latest technology and provide the highest quality care for the Haitian community.

Because Dr. Semoin is young, she’s often perceived as inexperienced. But she’s been practicing for years, which has given her valuable insights into the doctor-patient relationship. The way she sees it, patients should do to ensure they receive the best possible services.
Since Dr. Semoin has been in practice in North Miami, she’s joined the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce and received the prestigious Seventh Annual YoPros Award for being part of an exceptional group of Young Haitian-American Professionals. Her original goal was to become a psychologist, but while she was earning her qualifications to be one, she realized that medical practice resonated with her more.
What sets Dr. Semoin apart from other local surgeons is that she’s a Haitian female. She can be described in one word: professionalism. She’s one of the community’s most prized assets in the medical field because her Haitian identity gives her unique insight into her patients’ cultural backgrounds. She’s proud to be an active member of her community and takes pride in catching the attention of other active community members to bring about the changes they want to see.
Dr. Semoin can easily tap into her patients’ concerns and fears – and put them to rest. This ability is rooted in Dr. Semoin’s professionalism, her ability to understand people at the psychological level, and her Haitian ancestry. She also believes surgery may not be the only option on the table. She says it’s important for patients to discuss their options with their care provider to make sure they’re not missing any of them.
Dr. Semoin believes doctors should always speak the truth regarding the available treatment options and only recommend a specific procedure if it’s the safest and most effective one available. This may sometimes work against a doctor’s financial interests, but the Hippocratic oath takes precedence over everything else. “I just want to make sure people know that I am here to serve them,” says Sabrine.

Dr. Semoin is the proud wife of a physician and mother to two amazing children. Her life can be busy, but her most rewarding challenge is trying to strike a balance between her personal life and work. “It’s hard to be a businessperson, a surgeon, and a mom without support from a close circle,” she says.For her, family comes first. Her hard work is worth nothing if her family doesn’t benefit from it. Essentially, Dr. Semoin is establishing a legacy with her practice at South Florida Surgery.
