Who is Dr. Venise Danda?

Dr. Venise Danda, founder of Anuvia Medical Center, is a healthcare professional with a heart deeply rooted in community service. Born in Nassau, Bahamas, and raised in Little Haiti, she has spent the past 36 years in the United States, building both her family and her career.

A devoted wife and mother of three young children, Dr. Danda draws strength from her close-knit family:

“My kids are my world. And my best friends are my husband and my mom.”

Her journey reflects resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to her Haitian heritage. Dr. Danda’s upbringing in an underserved community shaped her desire to serve others, especially those who face barriers to accessing quality healthcare.

Today, she is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), specializing in STD care and HIV prevention.

In 2016, she established Anuvia Medical Center with the mission of delivering compassionate, accessible healthcare to her community, particularly Haitian families. Together with her husband, an accountant originally from Haiti, she expanded the practice in 2023 into a full-service clinic that caters to patients from infancy to senior years.

Educational and Professional Achievements

Dr. Danda’s educational journey began at North Miami Senior High, where she proudly calls herself a Pioneer. She went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

Her academic path reflects both ambition and perseverance—qualities that continue to define her professional life.

She entered the medical field in 2004, gaining over two decades of experience in healthcare. Her expertise spans family medicine, adult and geriatric care, pediatric care, preventive screenings, and telehealth services.

Anuvia Medical Center offers a diverse range of services, including free STD and HIV testing, free cervical and breast cancer screenings, vaccinations, work physicals, uninsured lab work, and weight-loss programs.

One of the clinic’s key strengths lies in its diverse, multilingual team:

“We have trilingual staff and a diverse group of providers. Dr. Saltzman was a professor at the University of Miami. He’s specialized in hematology and oncology. We are a Memorial Hospital network provider. Our specialties include family medicine, hematology, and oncology. HIV and STD prevention,” says Dr. Danda.

Dr. Danda and her team have built valuable partnerships with organizations such as Memorial Healthcare System, the Army Reserves, and Walgreens. These collaborations extend the clinic’s reach and enhance the quality of care available to underserved populations.

Personal and Professional Goals

At the heart of Dr. Danda’s mission is a passion for advocacy and patient care. She thrives on creating individualized care plans, educating her patients, and fostering trust within her community.

Her short-term goal is to expand Anuvia Medical Center’s services while continuing outreach efforts such as free breast cancer screenings, back-to-school giveaways, turkey distributions during the holidays, and gift card assistance for patients facing financial hardship.

Dr. Danda believes in maintaining an open-door policy—no patient should feel alone in their healthcare journey.

Looking ahead over the next three to five years, Dr. Danda envisions broadening the clinic’s scope by adding clinical research facilities and expanding into new locations. She wants Anuvia to be a hub for both treatment and innovation, contributing to medical advancements while maintaining its grassroots connection to the community.

Her drive stems from personal experience. Raised by a single mother who worked as a housekeeper, Dr. Danda knows firsthand the struggles of growing up in a low-income neighborhood.

Dr. Danda wants young people from similar backgrounds to see that they, too, can achieve professional success without losing sight of their cultural roots and community ties:

“I want to inspire others because I was raised with a single mom who worked as a housekeeper, and she did her best to keep us in school. I want other kids who are still living in the ghetto like I was to know that there is hope and to go after their dreams,” says Dr. Danda.

Word for Young Haitian Entrepreneurs

Dr. Danda’s story is not only one of professional achievement but also of personal empowerment. For young Haitian entrepreneurs—especially those aspiring to enter the medical field—her message is clear:

Discipline Yourself—Success in healthcare, as in any field, requires consistent effort and the ability to stay focused despite challenges.

Never Give Up— Obstacles will come, whether financial, personal, or professional. Resilience is key to overcoming them.

Put God First—Dr. Danda believes faith is the foundation for making wise decisions and staying grounded in purpose.

She emphasizes three core entrepreneurial skills: patience, communication, and being a people person. These traits, she says, are essential for building relationships, earning trust, and growing a sustainable business.

Her marketing approach is also a lesson in authenticity. While she uses outreach and partnerships, Dr. Danda finds that the most effective strategy is word-of-mouth referrals—a testament to the trust and satisfaction her clinic inspires in its patients.

Ultimately, Dr. Danda is more than a medical professional—she is a role model for the Haitian-American community. Her life’s work blends healthcare expertise with cultural pride, showing that success is not measured solely by titles or income but by the positive, lasting impact one leaves on others.
