Jefca Pouchely Salomon was born in Fort-Jacques, Haiti, and currently resides in Canapé-Vert. Passionate about children, dance, and fashion, Jefca’s personal slogan is “I feel good wherever there are kids.”
Her dream is to be a guide for Haitian youth, helping them navigate life without falling prey to violence. Jefca, a model, artist, and aspiring pediatrician, dedicates her talents to uplifting Haiti and its people.
Inspiration and Haitian Identity
Jefca draws inspiration from her deep love for children and her interests in dance and fashion. She dedicates herself to the Haitian community, viewing herself as a role model capable of inspiring the youth. As a proud Haitian, she believes that one’s origin does not define who they become, but rather, hard work, focus, and the belief in one’s dreams lead to success.
For Jefca, being Haitian comes with a sense of pride and resilience. She sees the world through the lens of her heritage, which has taught her the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and concentrating on the future.
Career aspirations and current work
Although Jefca originally studied education at Ecole Normale de Pétion-Ville, she had to pause her studies due to the political instability in Haiti. She now works as a seller at En Cas de Fin and models for photographers in her community.
Jefca’s ultimate dream is to become a medical examiner or pediatrician, professions that reflect her deep compassion for children and her desire to contribute to society in a meaningful way.
She is also a creative professional, having written a series for a production company named Omega from 2022 to 2023. She taught children how to perform on stage, which she describes as an incredibly rewarding experience. Through this work, she has cultivated her love for performance and storytelling, both of which she hopes to pursue further in her life.
Future goals and aspirations
Jefca has ambitious goals for the coming years. In addition to her dreams of working in the medical field, she also aspires to establish her own modeling and fashion agency, specifically for children. She believes that art and fashion play critical roles in the development of a country, helping to cultivate a national identity and pride. Her goal for 2024-2025 is to create a space where Haitian children can express themselves through art, fashion, and cinema.
Community Impact and Personal Values
Jefca’s love for her community is evident in her desire to protect children and support those in less fortunate situations. She is indignant about the negative stereotypes that are often associated with Haiti and is committed to helping spread a more positive narrative.
In her free time, Jefca enjoys sports, writing, watching movie series, and spending time with children. She is also an avid reader, constantly seeking new knowledge. Jefca Pouchely Salomon’s passion for children, art, and her community will undoubtedly lead her toward accomplishing her goals, all while inspiring a new generation of Haitians to embrace their culture and their dreams.
