Gregory Longchamps: The Haitian Psychologist and Model

Gregory Longchamps, born in Gonaives, Haiti, currently resides in Port-au-Prince. Gregory holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is preparing to further his education by entering a master’s program in social psychology at the Faculty of Ethnology. At the same time, he is continuing his studies in medicine at Université Lumière, where he is currently in his fifth year.

Gregory’s academic background reflects his dedication to understanding human behavior and contributing to healthcare, two fields that are vital to addressing the social and psychological challenges within Haiti.

Gregory is pursuing his dream of becoming a practicing psychologist, despite not currently having a job. He plans to pursue a doctorate in psychology, which will allow him to deepen his expertise and ultimately provide valuable psychological services to those in need.

In addition to his academic and professional goals, Gregory is also a professional model. One of his most significant accomplishments to date is the creation of the Mankina contest in Gonaïves, known as “Miss Indépendante & Mister Indépendant” (MMI).

This contest, now in its third edition, celebrates Haitian independence and promotes local talent. Gregory has successfully organized and managed the first two editions, helping to inspire pride in Haitian culture and foster a sense of community among participants.

The Mankina contest is not just about beauty; it’s about empowerment and representation. Gregory sees it as an opportunity to uplift young men and women, giving them a platform to showcase their individuality, strength, and connection to their roots.

Through this project, he demonstrates his commitment to cultural preservation and community pride, a reflection of his broader goal to make a positive impact on Haiti’s future.

Beyond his professional and academic endeavors, Gregory is also skilled in embroidery and calligraphy, two creative outlets that allow him to express his artistic side. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing games, and watching documentaries, all of which provide him with a well-rounded perspective on life and the world around him.
