Evens Jean Philippe Exantus was born in Neuchâtel but now resides in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As an overthinker, he finds inspiration in everything around him, exploring various perspectives.
The resilience of Haitian mothers deeply moves him and motivates him to push through challenges. Their ability to overcome hardships encourages him to rise above his own obstacles, finding strength in their example.
Educational Journey
Evens’ academic achievements are impressive. He attended medical school in Neuchâtel and Port-au-Prince, completing various rotations in Cuba, Ecuador, and Tunisia. In addition to his medical training, Evens pursued a degree in Molecular Gastronomy, combining his passion for biochemistry, molecular biology, and food.
His love for learning has been a constant in his life, and he takes pride in having completed medical school at a young age. Currently, Evens is completing his general surgery residency, and his drive to make a difference in healthcare is unwavering.
Professional Aspirations and Accomplishments
As a medical doctor, Evens’ primary goal is to make surgical care accessible throughout Haiti. He has witnessed firsthand how difficult it is for patients from rural areas to access proper medical care, often traveling long distances to reach hospitals in Port-au-Prince.
This burden not only affects their health but also delays recovery. Evens is committed to bridging this gap and ensuring that even the most remote regions of Haiti have access to surgical care. He’s willing to go the extra mile, even if it means traveling to towns and villages himself to provide much-needed care.
In the past year, Evens has also helped revitalize his father’s business, providing much-needed support during difficult times. He’s proud of his personal growth, having worked hard to overcome his shyness and put himself out there more. Evens believes in the power of consistency and plans to align his mind and body through better self-care and physical fitness.
Contributions to the Haitian Community
Evens has led and participated in numerous mobile clinics across Haiti, often offering his medical expertise free of charge. He is passionate about educating Haitians on medical and mental health literacy, believing that greater understanding of health can prevent many common issues.
His knowledge of molecular gastronomy also benefits the community, as he teaches the importance of mindful ingredient combinations in cooking.
Hobbies and future goals.
Outside of his professional life, Evens enjoys cooking, baking, and content creation. With over 60,000 followers, he’s built a platform around his culinary interests. He’s also passionate about music, having trained in Hindustani classical music and enjoying playing volleyball to stay active.
His ultimate goal is to use his platform to promote mental health awareness and medical literacy and encourage Haitians to unite for the betterment of their country. He believes that hard work, determination, and embracing one’s unique talents are the keys to personal and national success.
