Schubert J. Barthelus was born and raised in Haiti, but for the past decade, he has called Florida home. At 33, Schubert enjoys the sunny weather and beautiful beaches that Florida offers. When it comes to inspiration, Schubert credits his parents, cousins, and an aunt, Louitanise Antoine, for guiding him through life and education.
His family’s support kept him motivated, and now he draws inspiration from within to achieve his dreams. Although his beloved aunt has passed away, Schubert believes she watches over him every day, encouraging him to keep pushing forward.
Educational Journey
Schubert is currently studying welding at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC). His decision to pursue this trade reflects his ambition to acquire practical skills that will help him build a career.
While welding is his current focus, Schubert’s true passion lies in the culinary arts. He dreams of one day having a career in the food industry, which aligns with his love for cooking.
Current work and career ambitions
In addition to his studies, Schubert works as a machine operator for a manufacturing company. Despite the stability of his job, Schubert’s passion lies in the kitchen. Cooking is what he loves most, and he sees himself thriving in the food industry in the future.
He’s already working hard to make that dream a reality by balancing his job, education, and passion for food. Schubert envisions launching his own brand and business in the culinary field, and he’s laying the groundwork to make it happen.
Schubert has set several personal and professional goals for the next 12 months. His immediate focus is on completing his welding course and earning his certification.
Beyond that, he aims to start his own food business, turning his culinary passion into a thriving venture.
Giving back to the Haitian community
One of Schubert’s dreams is to help the children living on the streets of Haiti. He hopes to give them better opportunities and a brighter future, ensuring that the hardships they face today won’t persist for the next 20 to 30 years.
He also believes his cooking skills and patient teaching style could benefit the Haitian community. By sharing his knowledge, Schubert hopes to inspire others and create positive change.
Talents and Hobbies
Schubert is a talented cook and an excellent singer, two passions he enjoys in his free time. He also regrets not pursuing soccer more seriously when he was younger, but cooking has remained his top talent.
His hobbies include relaxing by the beach or pool, attending events, playing games, singing, and going to the gym.
Impact and vision
If Schubert had a platform, he would promote Haitian culture and encourage peace and love within his community. He believes in the importance of unity and wants to see Haitians stop fighting each other and start loving one another.
Through his platform, Schubert would inspire others to expand their knowledge and think critically, helping them reach their goals and positively contribute to the world.
