Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Yoline Desruisseaux currently lives in Juvenat, Pétion Ville. Growing up immersed in Haitian culture, Yoline developed a deep appreciation for the art, spirituality, and resilience that define her heritage. This connection has shaped her journey, impacting both her career as a model and her ambition to become a fashion designer.
Education and current work
Yoline is currently preparing to attend fashion school, where she hopes to refine her skills and pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Prior to this, she studied to become a customs officer at the Professional Center Saint-François d’Assise and briefly attended Unidi Haiti for digital marketing studies.
Alongside her education, Yoline has built a successful career as a professional model, working with various companies for promotional contracts. She also coaches others in modeling and spiritual development, helping individuals cultivate self-confidence and embrace their cultural identity.
Inspiration from art and culture
For Yoline, this representation of Haitian culture is not just a source of inspiration but a core aspect of her identity, and it motivates her to promote Haitian art and spirituality through her work. She admires Riva Nyri Precil, a Haitian-American artist who fuses Haitian cultural elements with contemporary expression.
Yoline’s Haitian background significantly impacts how she views the world. She is deeply concerned by the growing insensitivity and lack of empathy she observes globally, especially in light of Haiti’s history of struggle and resilience.
Professional Journey and Career Goals
While Yoline is passionate about her modeling career, her ultimate dream is to become a fashion designer. After four years of modeling and notable success, Yoline is now concentrating on broadening her creative horizons. Her long-term goal is to launch her own fashion line, “Dayiva,” featuring clothing, bags, and spiritual accessories.
Additionally, Yoline aims to develop her project “Psychoart Channel,” which will combine psychology and art to help Haitians explore mental health and creative expression.
One of Yoline’s most significant achievements is her appearance on the Guinness Smooth billboard, which she considers a major highlight of her career.
Goals for the Future
Yoline aims to continue coaching young models and individuals in personal development, helping them grow spiritually and professionally.
Yoline’s passion for helping others extends to her work with the Haitian community. Through “Psychoart Channel,” she aims to provide mental health support and artistic outlets for Haitians struggling with the psychological impact of the country’s challenges. Her dedication to cultural preservation and personal development drives her to mentor others, offering guidance in embracing their spiritual and cultural heritage.
Hobbies and personal interests
Outside of her professional endeavors, Yoline enjoys expressing herself through singing, dancing, and writing Vodou-inspired songs. She finds peace in activities like drawing, cooking, reading, and spending time in nature. These hobbies not only provide her with personal fulfillment but also serve as outlets for her creativity and spiritual growth.
