Haiti is a unique and beautiful country with a rich history and culture. Despite facing many challenges throughout its history, Haitians have remained resilient and proud of their heritage. I’m from a place where we are taught to be silent, not to embrace who we are. My mom and dad made it their business to expose us most respectfully, without triggering any retaliation from other people. I’m proud to be the daughter of two immigrants, I would love to make my mom smile, to show her all isn’t lost.
