My name is Brina and I was born and raised in Broward County, Florida. My mom is from Cap-Haitien and my dad is from Port-au-Prince. I grew up like many first generation Haitian-Americans raised in Haitian households, with the expectation to always be my best. In every aspect of my life, I strive for excellence even when the goal may seem out of reach. I have always wanted to be an artist since I could remember. I have been singing and playing piano since I was a little girl. Although this was the case, at times it was difficult to view my dream as a realistic one. Growing up I did not see myself in many artists and in entertainment in general. As a dark skinned girl, this resulted in me not having the confidence I should have had as a young girl in order to pursue my goals. Today as an artist, I am proud to know that I am exactly what I and other kids my age needed as children. I’m unapologetically Haitian, deeper-skinned, and confident.
