Haiti Open’s HOT 100 YOUNG HAITIANS seeks to celebrate young individuals in the Haitian diaspora and highlight their skills, background, work, aspirations, and accomplishments. I am a Haitian American attorney that has dedicated my educational career and professional career to improving the lives of my local Haitian community. I have served my local community in my hometown by volunteering at my local church and mentoring the youth. During my undergraduate career, I made it my mission to study abroad in Haiti. My goal was not to just study abroad in Haiti, but add literature and research to academia about Haiti. I studied abroad in Cap Haitian with Daytona State College’s Teachers without Borders program and conducted research while in Haiti. This inspired me to focus my Honors Thesis on the Haitian community and immigrants. The aim of my Honors project was to provide information to increase the knowledge of disaster preparedness among immigrants for whom English is a second language and who are English language learners.
