Hello! I'm Dafeney Josue, a versatile visual artist residing in Orlando, FL, with a background in various artistic disciplines. Growing up as a Haitian American woman, I faced numerous challenges, including the loss of my mother at 19 and struggles with self-esteem due to verbal abuse. Unlike many artists, I didn't start my artistic journey until my early 20s, sparked by a paint and sip session at home with my best friend. It took me a while to embrace my identity as an artist due to my past traumas, initially treating it as a hobby by giving away my creations and volunteering at a local hospital to paint for cancer patients and their families.
In 2020, after losing my job, I decided to turn my passion into a business. I've since made significant strides in the community, showcasing my work at venues like Orlando City Hall and the Orlando Science Center. My art focuses on portraying black women and girls in a positive and empowering light, whether through affirming messages or showcasing our inherent beauty, countering societal narratives that often seek to diminish us.
