My name is Ociana Menuau. I typically go by the name Oci. I recently graduated from St.John’s University with a Bachelor's in Government and Politics and as President of Haitian society as my school. Ideally, I’d like to run for a federal office level and be the change I’d like to see in the world. Specifically, I’d like to bridge the gap and digital divide between Haiti and the United States. I would like to expose the entire world to the Haiti my mom grew up on, not the one we see see publicized by media. I have been fully enriched in Haitian culture whether it was assisting Haitians with immigration cases at my job, dancing for the junior West Indian Labor Day parade, or bringing Haiti’s name to the table in any conversation possible. I would like be on the cover of Haiti Open to start gaining exposure for myself, and be portrayed as a pioneer woman for many Haitian people to follow. Often times, Haitian parents degrade their child for their profession or career path because it is not in the medical field or law. I want to be the inspiration for those coming along to follow their dreams
