Hello! My name is Ashley I am 33 yrs old. I was born in Boston, MA but raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I grew up in a Haitian household. My mother was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. French was my 1st language but I completely lost my touch lol. I am a professional hair Loctician and braider. I also model on the side for Laki Photography. For fun I like to sing (my family has a musical background) dance, go to the beach, travel and just enjoy life! I’d like to be the face of the magazine because as a child in school I’d get picked on and got jumped because I was Haitian. People alway made Haitians out to be “ugly”. Unfortunately this still happens today but not as bad. I’d like to show little boys and girls to have confidence and that there is more to us than just looks. There is pride and a deep seeded history in our culture. We have so much more to offer than an occasional plate of griot or catchy hooks on a rap song lol. Our people are a beacon of dignity, perseverance and strength that should be celebrated and revered. It would be an honor and privilege to be the face of a nation my ancestors fought for
