My name is Phania Metellus, but I go by Nya. I’m a proud Haitian woman who grew up surrounded by nature in Haiti before moving to the U.S. after surviving the 2010 earthquake. That experience shaped my strength, faith, and passion for helping others. Today, I’m a Public Relations student at Temple University, working in social media strategy, influencer marketing, and fashion communications. I’ve collaborated with brands like Poppi, Valentino Beauty, Bobbi Brown, fenty beauty, New York Fashion Week. Charles and Keith, and many more. Im an intern with Philly Fashion Week.
Being on the cover of Haiti Open would mean more than recognition—it would be a way to represent the strength, beauty, and creativity of the Haitian community. I want to inspire young Haitians, especially girls, to know that they are capable of greatness, no matter where they start. I believe in using my voice and visibility to open doors for others and rewrite the narrative around what it means to be Haitian.
I also plan to give back through volunteering and mentorship, especially for Haitian youth who need encouragement, access, and role models
