My name is Laura. Some may know me as Lolah, but today, I walk fully in my name and in my truth.
I was born on September 22, 1995, in Haiti. I experienced a lot at a young age from political unrest to violence things no child should ever have to see. But those experiences made me strong. At the age of 13, in 2008, I came to the United States, and Miami became my new home.
Growing up in Miami gave me a fresh start, and I took every opportunity to learn and grow. I went to middle and high school here, and later attended Miami Dade College. I started out in nursing, thinking that was the best path but I quickly realized my heart was calling me somewhere else.
Today, I work as a paralegal in immigration law, and that decision changed my life. I’ve seen firsthand how much our people need help navigating this system, and it’s become personal for me. Every case I touch, every family I assist, is a reminder of my own story and I’m proud to play a small but powerful role in helping others build better lives.
