I am a former high school English teacher who was born and raised in the United States. In 2022, I moved to Haiti to pursue entrepreneurship. Growing up, my family and I didn’t visit Haiti, and I knew very little about the island. I was raised with the Haitian motto: Lekòl, legliz, lakay.
As I got older, my curiosity about Haiti began to grow. I felt inspired to be in Haiti, but I didn’t know if it was realistic because of all the negative things I had heard. So, I started praying about it and being open with God about my desires. Around the same time, my parents decided they no longer wanted to retire in the States. They were getting older and increasingly concerned about life in America, so they began investing in Haiti. I didn’t know they were investing in Haiti, and they didn’t know I wanted to live there.
