My name is Ja’maal Hassan Eveillard. I’m a first-generation Haitian-American film director, and for me, filmmaking isn’t just about storytelling—it’s a spiritual practice. It’s an altar where truth, faith, and transformation meet.
My work is deeply rooted in the legacy of my ancestors and shaped by the complexities of identity in America. As a director, I’m drawn to uncovering unseen realities. I create cinematic worlds that ask hard questions—about justice and corruption, faith and doubt, the physical and the spiritual. I don’t shy away from tension or discomfort. I believe in sitting with it, confronting it, and letting it reveal something deeper.
The stories I tell are layered—intimate yet expansive. I explore themes like personal and collective trauma, spiritual warfare, and systemic oppression. My style leans into symbolism, emotion, and contrast. I often let silence speak where words can’t.
I’m not in this for prestige. I’m in it with purpose. My goal is to make films that don’t just entertain—but awaken. Everything I create is rooted in my faith, my community, and a higher calling to give voice to those navigat
