Parents From: My dad is from Bainet, my mom is from Bauge
My name is Nelda Joslyn, I’m 23 years old born in Boston Massachusetts. I wasn’t born in Haiti, but I consider myself fully Haitian—spiritually, culturally, and by blood. Both of my parents were born in Haiti, and I was raised with the culture deeply rooted in me. From the food, the music, and the dancing to the blag (our word for jokes—I hope I spelled it right lol), Haiti has always been a part of me.
My grandparents helped raise me while my mom worked, so of course, my connection to my heritage became really strong. They taught me discipline, love, tradition, and the value of holding onto where you come from. I carry Haiti with me in everything I do.
As a model, creative, and entrepreneur, I use my work to show the beauty of Haitian culture and the strength of Black women. Whether I’m behind the scenes directing a shoot or in front of the camera, I’m representing a lineage of power, resilience, and creativity. My goal is always to inspire others to embrace who they are, especially those of us from the diaspora who still feel deeply connected to home. Being on the cover
