My name is Wedgino Deguerre . I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and came to the United States after the devastating earthquake that changed so many lives. Despite the challenges, I’ve always carried Haiti in my heart and proudly represent my culture in everything I do.
After graduating from McNeil High School in Austin, Texas, where I played junior varsity soccer and our team placed second in the state,
I went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 2013 to 2022. I later joined the National Guard in 2023 and completed my service in 2024. During that time, I also became a proud father to a beautiful daughter, who continues to inspire me every day.
Music has always been my passion, especially Creole rap. I currently have three singles on Spotify under the name “Wd_Gino,” where I blend my personal experiences with the rhythm and soul of Haitian culture. I believe music is a powerful tool to uplift, connect, and inspire others especially the younger generation.
I would like to be featured in Haiti Open magazine not just as a veteran or artist, but as a proud Haitian who believes that there are no limits when you work hard and stay
