I’m the firstborn daughter to Haitian immigrants and am proud to represent red and blue in all facets of my life. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY it was never cool to rep my culture and rich heritage but that never stopped me from introducing friends to Konpa and me joure yo an kreyòl. I have always heard silly comments like “You’re the prettiest Haitian I’ve met.” And I always had to gracefully check folks like we are the most beautiful specimens on this fine earth.
