My name is Kecia Rose Lormine, and I was born in St. Louis, Missouri. I am a proud Haitian-American woman studying biology at Florida Memorial University. I would like to use my platform to shine a light on the importance of mental health—especially for young Haitians. Too often mental health is neglected in our culture, and I believe it is time to start talking about healing, loving ourselves, and breaking unhealthy patterns. Being on the cover of Haiti Open magazine would allow me to represent strength, sensitivity, and the need to take care of our minds as well as our future.
