My name is Ruth Rocker and I am a first generation Haitian American. I come from a humble family with both of my parents being pastors. I've advocated and traveled to Haiti alongside my mother to give out school supply donations to the children in need while I was in middle school. During my time in college at the University of Miami I participated in the Haitian Student Organization (Planet Kreyol) on campus and reigned as their Miss Planet Kreyol 2018. As time progressed I've been able to tap more into my creative side and shine a light on Haitian culture through my craft: hair and content. I've deemed myself as the Haitian Princess among my inner circle, but it really took off once my Haitian flag day photoshoots/content went viral. My Haitian heritage month content was reposted on multiple Haitian platforms such as, FacesofHaiti, IslandTV, HaitiansWhoBlog, and even the Shaderoom which is not known for highlighting our Haitian culture. In the future I hope to be able to continue being a beacon of light for Haiti, our culture, our resiliency, and more.
