My name is Britney J Occeus and I am a 29 year old mother of 2. I am a Daughter of a former Haitian immigrant mother and daughter of a first generation Haitian American father. I was born and raised in the City of Little Haiti in the heart of Miami, FL by my grandparents Elzulia Telfort and Jules Telfort, who migrated to Miami in the 70’s. They have managed to pass on their love for the strong and rich culture of Haiti to me. A culture in which I cherish dearly and put into practice daily while also becoming the dream of success that my grandparents envisioned for me and our culture. Succeeding at not becoming a negative static of our minority communities but becoming an active part of the change that is to come. I am a Law Enforcement Officer that also graduated with Honors at the top of my class receiving a Bachelors Degree from Barry University. I enjoy teaching people about my inherited culture like it’s the only one I know. I love to share my love of cooking traditional meals for my family and friends. Remembering the authentic recipes that has been passed down to me. Bringing communities together
