Hello, my name is Jamia Pierre. I am a college student and a model of Haitian decent. Being part of Haïti Open would allow me to showcase what I believe haitian beauty represents. Being raised as a darkskin girl in Haiti was not always a good thing. I was always told that the skin I was born with was not as beautiful as the girls with lighter complexions. So the journey of learning to love my skin has been long but successful. Though there has been great progress in the industry when it comes to accepting and loving the darker shades, I believe there is still work to be done and I truly want to be a part of it. If I were to get featured on the cover of the Haitian Open, my goal would be to inspire love of self in other girls that were like me who had to take the journey of loving the body they were born in. I pray that they would see me on the cover and realize that they too are more amazing and magical than they have been lead to believe. Thank you for the opportunity.
